1 | An extract of his will is as follows: Orange Co., Va. W.B. 1, p. 284-6. The will of John Nicholas Blankenbaker of St. Marks Parish in the County of Orange, dated August 10, 1743. Unto my beloved wife, Appellonia Blankenbaker, 100 acres of land with plantation whereon I now live. To my son Zacharias Blankenbaker 200 acres to be taken off of a tract of 400 acres, also a three year old mare, a saddle, bridle and a gun. Unto my son Jacob Blankenbaker my tract of 100 and 65 acres of land whereon I now live after the decease of my above loving wife Appellonia, also a mare three years old, a saddle, bridle, and a gun. Unto my son Michael Blankenbaker 16 shillings in money after the decease of my above said wife. Unto my son Zacharias Blankenbaker 16 shillings in money. Unto my daughter Dorothea, wife of Lawrence Garr eleven pounds and eleven shillings in money after the death of my wife. Unto my daughter Ursula now married unto John Zimmerman 15 pounds and 15 shillings in money after the death of my wife. All my effects equally divided amongst all my above mentioned children, after the decease of my above said loving wife Appellonia. I as a loving father to all my children have taken great care to divide the whole of my estate equally.
