Both Pavel "Paul" Jagos and Ludmila "Lilli" Trckova immigrated to the United States from the Czech Republic (then part of the combined country of Czechoslavakia) in 1929 and 1930. They arrived in New York City separately, but by approximately 1935 they had met. They are listed in the 1940 census as being married with two children, the eldest being Paul, Jr. who was born in February 1936.
More information is known about Lilli than Paul, because we have copies of her travel documents from when she immigrated to the U.S. These documents have been a great source of family information, listing not only her parents' names, but also those of her four grandparents.
Less is known about Paul. Family members report that he was a private man, and didn't tell stories or talk much about his life before coming to the United States. Information that we do have has been pieced together through digitized records available on Ancestry and other websites.
